GRAMBLING — A quick look at some vital numbers leaves one wondering how Grambling State University’s football team wrestled away its latest Southwestern Athletic Conference championship.

No, they didn’t do it with “mirrors,” even though the following facts belie the Tigers leaving historic Legion Field in Birmingham, Ala., this past weekend with a title game victory over Alabama A&M:

• Grambling State’s total offensive yards was 182, nearly half as many as the 332 rolled up by the Bulldogs.

• The Tigers completed a grand total of four passes.
