Students read, rock and cheer against drugs

She said by raising awareness about the consequences of drug abuse at a young age, students will be less likely to develop a drug problem when they get older.

I think awareness plays a big role in their apprehension about drug use,” Williams said.

“The students are very excited about this week, and they have shown strong participation in making slogans and posting them around the school.”

Children at Hillcrest Elementary began Red Ribbon Week on Monday with a pledge to remain drug-free and on Tuesday brought a picture to school of a role model.
