She said by raising awareness about the consequences of drug abuse at a young age, students will be less likely to develop a drug problem when they get older.

Children at Hillcrest Elementary began Red Ribbon Week on Monday with a pledge to remain drug-free and on Tuesday brought a picture to school of a role model.
