In most cases, it is pretty easy to measure the extent of a person’s interest and involvement in something by the language he or she uses when referring to it.

For instance, if a man, in alluding to the locally-sponsored foreign missionary, calls him “their missionary,’’ it probably means the person has never contributed one single, solitary dollar to the aforementioned evangelist’s support fund, never written him the first encouraging note or letter, nor wafted one feeble prayer Heavenward on his behalf.
