Call to Order
Mr. Brasuell called the meeting to order at 8:10 a.m.
Invocation
Mr. Bush presented the invocation.
Approval of Agenda
Action Item #1: Mrs. Bromell made a motion to approve the agenda. Mr. Garriga seconded. All present said aye. Motion passed unanimously.
Approval of Minutes
Action Item #2: Mr. Hogan made a motion to approve the minutes from the previous meeting. Mr. Russell seconded. All present said aye. Motion passed unanimously.
Public Comments-None
President/CEO's Report
Mr. Edmiston reported that the lodging tax was up for the month of August 5.25 percent and that the lodging tax collection is up-to-date. Year-to-date the lodging tax is up 9.5 percent. The Piney Hills Classic was held October 15-16 and brought in over 300 mountain biker riders to Lincoln Parish Park. Grambling also had a home football game during the weekend. Together, the events produced a good weekend for lodging tax revenue.
Treasurer's Report
Mr. Garriga presented the financial report. For the month of September revenue exceed expenses. Year-to-date, revenue continues to exceed expenses.
Chairman's Report
Mr. Brasuell asked the board to consider writing a letter of support to the city of Ruston asking that they consider allowing Sunday alcohol sales in restaurants only beginning at noon. He cited several reasons as to why it would be an advantage to the area. Among them, it would make Ruston more competitive with Monroe/West Monroe and Shreveport/Bossier when businesses travelers are considering where to stay when traveling. Also, the area has lost conference business due to the fact that alcohol is not sold at restaurants on Sunday.
Action Item # 3: Mr. Garriga made a motion to send a letter to the City of Ruston asking that they pass Sunday alcohol sales for restaurants only beginning at noon. Mr. Hogan seconded. All present said aye. Motion passed unanimously.
