A break from the day-to-day
I’d have to say the Halloween memory that sticks with me the most is the year when my mom took my younger cousin and I trick-or-treating in our neighborhood. Since I grew up in the woods — where people don’t live on top of each other in neat little neighborhoods — I use the term loosely.
This particular year was so memorable, because we knocked on the door of a man who we knew had a lion in his backyard. Being older and generally wiser now, I’m pretty sure he probably wasn’t supposed to have the lion. But, when I was younger, it was simply the neatest thing ever.
