Wayne J. Guidry Jr. is charged with the second-degree murder of Stephanie Pepper Sims.
Sims vanished Jan. 5, 2003, after last being seen at church in Ruston. Her fully-clothed body was found Feb. 13, 2003, face-down in an eight and a half-foot deep hole off Sisemore Road in the 32,000 acre Jackson/Bienville Wildlife Management Area.
Guidry was arrested a few hours later at a golf driving range by New Orleans Police acting on a tip. He was returned to Jackson Parish and has been in custody since awaiting trial.
