Two vehicles were also reported stolen — one from Denton Street on Tuesday and one near Hwy. 80 on Thursday.

“In both of these cases, the vehicles were unlocked, and the keys were apparently left in the ignition,” Hermes said.

The vehicle stolen from Denton Street was recovered the next day, and the one stolen Thursday was recovered Friday night during a police chase.

Hermes said an officer spotted the car at a car wash on South Farmerville Street and tried to get the suspect to exit the vehicle, at which point, the suspect sped off down McDonald Avenue to Edgewood Apartments.
