SUBJECT: Committee Report
The Public Property and Building Committee of the Lincoln Parish Police Jury met in special session in the Police Jury Meeting Room, Third Floor, Lincoln Parish Courthouse, Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at 6:00 p.m. Present were: Roy Glover, Chair; Theresa Wyatt, Jody Backus, Annie Brown, Sharyon Mayfield and Mickey Mays.
ABSENT: None
Roy Glover called the meeting to order and delivered the Invocation.
Jody Backus offered a motion, seconded by Annie Brown, to approve the agenda. The motion carried with the following votes:
YEAS: Wyatt, Glover, Backus, Brown, Mayfield and Mays
NAYS: None
ABSENT: None
First on the Agenda was to consider a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement with the State of Louisiana, Department of Motor Vehicles, for use of space. Nick Gautreaux, Commissioner of the Office of Motor Vehicles, was present to explain how the partnership between the Office of Motor Vehicles and the Lincoln Parish Police Jury would work. Commissioner Gautreaux explained that the Police Jury would provide the space and associated costs of maintaining that space and the Department of Motor Vehicles would collect a $3.00 transaction fee to be remitted to the Police Jury monthly, which would cover the cost of operation of the office. Following questions and discussion, Mickey Mays offered a motion, seconded by Theresa Wyatt, to approve the Cooperative Endeavor Agreement between the Department of Public safety and Corrections and the Lincoln Parish Police Jury. The motion carried with the following votes:
YEAS: Wyatt, Glover, Backus, Brown, Mayfield and Mays
NAYS: None
ABSENT: None
Annie Brown offered a motion, seconded by Jody Backus, to approve a resolution authorizing the collection of a $3.00 service fee by the Office of Motor Vehicles. The motion carried with the following votes:
YEAS: Wyatt, Glover, Backus, Brown, Mayfield and Mays
NAYS: None
ABSENT: None
Mickey Mays offered a motion, seconded by Annie Brown, to declare the credenza and shelving in the old Movie Gallery as surplus property with the bidder taking all or none of the shelves. The motion carried with the following votes:
YEAS: Wyatt, Glover, Backus, Brown, Mayfield and Mays
NAYS: None
ABSENT: None
Under other business, Sharyon Mayfield requested that seating that used to be in the foyer of the Police Jury Complex be moved back so that patrons would not have to wait outside. There being no other business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned.
