It happened Tuesday in Atlanta, Ga., but could just have easily occurred here.

August is upon us and for those who reside in the Bayou State there’s one thing we can count on — it’s going to be hot.

There also another thing Louisianians can count on in August — young men dressed in pads and helmets running up and down football fields at most every junior high, high school and university.

While football is a game, it’s taken seriously in Louisiana at every level and, thus, if special care is not taken, heat could take its toll on our young men.
