A minor gas leak occurred Tuesday around noon on the South Service Road in front of Irrigation Mart. Officials reported that a mini excavator was digging when the bucket clipped the supply line. Ruston Fire Department Assistant Chief Skylar League said the call was made to block off the service road due to the dry weather conditions and the wind blowing the gas in the direction of the service road.

“It wouldn’t have taken but one small spark to ignite the gas,” he said.

The service road was blocked off for approximately two hours.
