Cougars start with big bang

Cedar Creek displays overall balance in opening win

A familiar scene in last weekend’s Cedar Creek-Tensas game was Panthers’ defenders chasing after Cougars’ running back Austin Ginn (2), who ended with 135 yards rushing and three touchdowns in a 53-0 victory.

Cedar Creek is on an early roll. Ruston and Grambling will try and follow in the same path when Lincoln Parish’s high school football teams enter week No. 2 of the 2011 season on Friday night.

In the opening weekend of Louisiana High School Athletic Association action, there were far differing results or those three programs.

The Cougars were dominating in a 53-0 rout of Tensas, but the Bearcats were outmanned by longtime rival Monroe Neville 42-6 and the Kittens tumbled to Red River 39-6.
