Funeral services for Mr. C.S. “Dago” Cooper, age 92 of Ruston, will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at Owens Memorial Chapel with Ricky Edmistion officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Ruston under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.

Mr. Cooper was born September 3, 1918 in Maryville, Tennessee to Gaith and Margaret Cooper. He died August 20, 2011 in Ruston after a short illness. He was a veteran of World
War II who served in the US Army and earned a Purple Heart. Mr. Cooper was also a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Mr. C.S. was a working man’s man, actively working in his yard until he took a hard fall at the age of 91. He was retired from Kerr-McGee as well as the City of Ruston.

Mr. Cooper is survived by his daughters: Gwendolyn C. “Duke” Causey and Gwenette C. and husband Paul Spears, all of Ruston; his granddaughters: Dee Spears Brown and Heather Spears Kennedy both of Marianna, Arkansas and Amanda Causey of Ruston; his great granddaughters: McKenzie Lee, Kelsey Lee and Karlee Kennedy. He was preceded in death by his wife: Gloria Cooper; his parents as well as his brothers: John N. “Dude” Cooper,
Harold “Bud” Cooper, Gaith “Tub” Cooper, Jr., Oscar “Grubber” Cooper and Stanley “Dee” Cooper.

Pallbearers will be: Chris Salter, Charles “Bud” McDonald, Timmy Edmiston, Tracey Mayo, Ronnie Edmiston and Adam Jones. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Monday, August 22, 2011 at Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Ruston. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Northern Louisiana Medical Center as well as the Prime Care staff for the attentive care they provided for their daddy.
