Ila Ray Kemp Cooper Of New Braunfels, Texas, formerly of Baker, Louisiana, went to be with her Lord on August 14, 2011. With her family by her side, and following a surgery and lingering illness, she passed away in Christus Santa Rosa Hospital in New Braunfels under the direction of Hope Hospice.

Memorial Service for family and friends will be held on August 27, 2011 at First United Methodist Church in Baker, Louisiana at 1:00 p.m. with visitation following. The Reverend Gene Rives, pastor and friend, will officiate her memorial.

Burial services will be held in Bernice, La. at Evergreen Baptist Church cemetery at a date to be later determined.

Ila was born in Downsville, Lousiana on December 3, 1921. She was one of six children born to A.Z. and Rosie McDaniel Ray and the last surviving sibling. She attended nursing school following high school and was an LVN at the Ruston, La. Hospital for 22 years.

She married D. G. Cooper, Jr. (deceased) of Hodge, La. and they relocated to Baker, La.

In 2008, Ila moved to New Braunfels, Tx to Oak Tree Assisted Living in order to be close to her daughter.

Brothers J. D. Ray of Ruston, La. and John W. Ray of Shreveport La, and sisters Eunice Green of Choudrant, La., Lorena Sharp of Dubach, La., and Edna Rexon of Ridgecrest, Ca. precede her in death.

Survivors are her daughter, Linda Adney and husband B. R. Adney of New Braunfels, Texas, grandson Bradley S. Adney, his children Kathryn Ila Adney and Cooper Wesley Adney, granddaughter, Rebecca Anne Humberson and husband Kurt of Katy, Tx and their son Logan Mitchell Humberson. Also surviving Ila are step sons Thomas G. Cooper and wife Susan Cooper, Gregory M. Cooper and wife Chris Cooper, and step grandchildren Dawn Mackay, Shalee Cooper, and husband Tyler, Chantel Loftin and husband Eric and their children Jaxon Tyce, and Preslee, Greg Cooper, Jr. and Wife Amy, and Blaze Cooper.

Memorials may be made to her church and/or to the outreach she loved at First United Methodist Church “Community Café” Fund, 1255 Camelia Ave , Baker, Louisiana 70714. Phone 225-775-1577
