School zone speed limits are in effect

The majority of Lincoln Parish students will be back in the classroom on Friday. When kids head back to school, residents have to take extra care to pay attention to traffic issues — such as school zone speed limits, buses and students walking to school — that haven’t been an issue for several months.

Lt. Tim Parker, public information officer with the Ruston Police Department, said the department wanted to remind individuals that school zones speed limits will be back in effect from 7-9 a.m. and 2-4 p.m. on school days. While the RPD won’t have extra patrols out, Parker said officers will begin enforcing the speed limits.
