Shortly after I moved to the South in 1957 I was listening to an LSU horticultural researcher and he was talking about “bad holes” in horticulture. Now I knew what a bad hole was. We lived out on the end of a 3-mile gravel road that had plenty of bad holes but concering horticulture I did not know the term. Last weeks article brought back to mind his talk. He was talking about microenvironment spots that caused troubles in landscapes.
