Students brush up on math skills

More than 60 students took a break from their summer to stop by A.E. Phillips Elementary School and brush up on their math skills last week.

The annual math fair offered in conjunction with the Louisiana Tech University Elementary and Middle Grades Math Methods class allowed students to garner a hands-on refresher course on math skills before returning to school in a few weeks.

Julie Holmes, assistant professor of education at Tech, said that 41 first-third grade students showed up on Tuesday and 24 fourth-sixth grade students showed up on Wednesday.
