We are in the home stretch of summer and the finish line is close. Overall I believe this has been a good growing season for gardens and landscapes. Sure there have been a few hot dry periods, but overall the weather with the current mild temperatures and timely rain events have made this growing season bountiful. Below are a few tips on maintaining and conditioning the landscape and garden going into the last few weeks of summer and into fall.
Students and area residents will have an opportunity to see what the art professors from Louisiana Tech have recently created as various faculty members display their art now through Jan. 31 in the F. Jay Taylor Visual Arts Center.
Faculty members Jerry Berg, Marie Bukowski, Nicholas Bustamante, Mary Louise Carter, Jonathan Donehoo, Nicole Duet, Jay Gould, Frank Hamrick, Gary Hauser, Kevin Kennedy, Todd Maggio, Patrick Miller, Jes Schrom, Joey Slaughter, Kathy Vellard and Saul Zalesch will have work displayed in Tech’s Main Gallery and Belloq Gallery.
Irma McKee, front, recently celebrated her 90th birthday with her family in the Fellowship Hall of Trinity United Methodist Church. McKee is pictured with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The Louisiana Tech University Stone Theatre and School of Performing Arts announce the cast for “Pippin.” Directed by Paul B. Crook with musical direction by Lisa Maxedon.
“Pippin” will run April 25- 28 and May 2- 5 in Louisiana Tech University’s Stone Theatre. All performances will be held in Stone Theatre located in the Howard Center for the Performing Arts. The Box Office, located in the lobby of Howard Auditorium, will open for general admission on April 18. The Box Office hours are Monday - Friday, 1:30 - 4:45 p.m., and the number is 257-3942.
