The president and chief operating office of Universal Studios encouraged Grambling State University students to sacrifice and do what it takes to succeed as they pursue their dreams. His message was simple: You can go further in life if you believe.
“You have to find a way to follow your dreams,” Ron Meyer told the audience from the Floyd L. Sandle Theatre sage in the Conrad Hutchinson Performing Arts Center. “Can’t assume someone is always going to help you. You have to want it badly, can’t be derailed.”
Today is the final day of candidate qualifying for the Nov. 4 primary election. Qualifying for the 63 local, regional and statewide offices up for grabs began Wednesday and ends at 4:30 p.m.

• U. S. Senate: Wayne Ables, D-Breaux Bridge; “Bill” Cassidy, R-Baton Rouge; Thomas Clements, R-Lafayette; Mary L. Landrieu, D-New Orleans; Brannon Lee McMorris, Liberatarian-Denham Springs; William P. Waymire, Jr., D-Gonzales.
