Resident recalls Grambling man
Today’s writing was to be a cutting response to a letter calling for the closing of Grambling State University, but a single event has overshadowed my desire to write such a response.
That event is the death of Mr. James “Ace” Jackson, one of Grambling’s oldest citizens. He reached the age of 96 years old on June 28; and on that day, from a bed in ICU, he was able to tell me who I was, when he was born, his age and how he felt. Like always, he spoke with strength and clarity. I quietly thanked the Lord when he said he was not in any pain.
