Louisiana Tech’s Athletic Communications Department won seven awards – the most in the state – at the annual Louisiana Sports Writers Association SID Contest which was held Sunday in Natchitoches.
The Tech Athletics Communications Department took home two first place awards, three second place awards and two third place awards for a total of seven, two more than runner-up LSU (5). McNeese State (3), Northwestern State (2), Loyola (1), Southeastern Louisiana (1) and Nicholls State (1) also took home awards in this year’s contest.
RUSTON — Louisiana Tech was one of only two teams to have multiple players named Preseason All-Conference as guard Alex Hamilton and forward Erik McCree were selected to the 10-person Conference USA team, voted on by the league coaches.
Both players started all 36 games last season for Tech, helping the Bulldogs earn the outright C-USA regular season title and an appearance in the NIT quarterfinals.
Hamilton, the only repeat preseason selection, earned second team All-Conference USA and second team NABC All-District 11 honors in 2014.
