Seventy-six percent of parish fourth graders who took the LEAP test for the first time met the exam’s criteria for grade level promotion — an improvement of 6 percent over last year’s number.

Also, those who took the GEE — 10th and 11th grade students — continued a trend that has shown improvement each year for the past four years.

In 2003, 24 percent failed, followed by 16 percent in 2004, 12 percent in 2005 and 10 percent in 2006.
