Citizens who wish to speak with Lincoln Parish Police jury members about the authorization to claim ownership of adjudicated property parcel No. 29184507011 off state Hwy. 507 will have their chance when the jury meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Police Jury Meeting Room in the Lincoln Parish Courthouse.
Jurors will begin their meeting with a public hearing on the ordinance which was introduced in May.
After the closing of the public hearing, the jury is expected to appoint Randy Snow to Waterworks District No. 3 and Tommy Clark to the Lincoln Parish Communications District.
At the Lincoln Parish Detention Center’s monthly meeting on Thursday, Jim Tuten, warden, told the Board of Commissioners that the portable building they approved to purchase from Hico Elementary will be used to better the lives of the inmates when they get out, thereby reducing the probability they will be repeat offenders.
“The building we are getting from the (Hico) school system that police jury approved, once all the paperwork is signed, will hopefully break the cycle,” Tuten said.
“That building has three separate classrooms in it.
Ruston electric utility customers could see a slight decrease in their bills beginning in July if the Board of Aldermen approves a contract to purchase power from Constellation Energy Resources.
A resolution authorizing Mayor Dan Hollingsworth to enter into a power supply agreement with the Baltimore, Maryland-based company is among the items on Monday night’s board agenda. The board convenes at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall.
