Teachers and students were recognized on a recent Friday for their dedication to education with the school’s highest honor. Jennifer Willis was named 2011 Dubach Junior High School Teacher of the Year, and Susan Williams was named 2011 Dubach High School Teacher of the Year.
A Third District Court Judge has dismissed a suit filed by supporters of Downsville Charter School seeking to block construction of the new Union Parish High School.
Judge Thomas Rogers issued his ruling July 14 in a suit filed by DCS board president Reggie Skains and supporters of the school against the Union Parish School Board and Union Parish Schools superintendent George Cannon.
Cypress Springs Elementary welcomed special guest Mayor Ronny Walker during a recent morning assembly. Mayor Walker stopped by to meet and greet the students. Fourth grade teacher Debbie Barton invited Walker to enhance the students’ government study. Walker explained his job as mayor, answered questions and took pictures with students and teachers. The school enjoyed and his visit welcome him back at any time.
