Writer criticizes country’s military endeavors
The U.S. supported Fidel Castro’s goal of overthrowing Cuba’s dictator in the 1950s.
Apparently, our leaders assumed that Castro would establish a government acceptable to our interest. Once Castro was in power, he ran up his communist flag. We helped place a communist country 90 miles off the Florida coast. However, those in control of the United States decided that we must attack communist nations on the other side of the world, Korea and Vietnam. We expended close to 100,000 American lives plus untold billions of dollars without real success.
