Under state law, the village is required to roll back the millage rate for property taxes every two years when property value is reassessed.
Then, the aldermen have the option of rolling those rates forward to last year's rate (5.08 percent) or leaving the rates at the old rate (4.57 percent).
Mayor Woodie Pritchett suggested rolling the rates back forward because the village would lose money if they weren't, and alderman Jimmy Dale Clements said he felt the money was "essential" to run the village.
