U.S. Sen. David Vitter and Congressman Rodney Alexander met with students from Ruston Junior High School May 8 in the Hart Senate Office Building. Seventy-two students were visiting Washington as part of a field trip for honors students.
“I always enjoy getting to meet Louisianians when they visit our Nation’s Capital, and it was a pleasure to visit with these bright students from Ruston,” Vitter said.
A combination of soulful rhythm and blues, with a little rock, will take the stage at the Dixie Center for the Arts, as Marcia Ball will headline on Sept. 13.
“She did a show at the Dixie sponsored by Monty Russell,” said John Emory Jr., president of the Board of Directors of the Dixie. “After seeing the show, and the response she created, we wanted to make her our opening act of the season.”
Louisiana Tech Athletics Director Bruce Van De Velde said Monday that the university is closely monitoring the situation with the impending landfall of Hurricane Isaac and hopes to make a definitive decision on its home game against Texas A&M by this afternoon.
