A beloved wife and cherished mother, "Ginny" or "Gin" will be remembered for her gentle disposition, beautifully kind and ever-present smile, and her life-long devotion to her family. Mrs. Snyder loved the simple things in life.  Whether it was working diligently in her yard and gardens, taking long walks on beautiful afternoons with her children and grandchildren, or taking pride in her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren; Virginia loved the simple pleasures that marriage, motherhood and life bestowed. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Ann Webb Gronstrom and Joy Webb Thorton; and brother, Dwight Webb. She is survived by her husband of sixty five years, Professor Robert C. Snyder, Sr.; three devoted children, seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren: Rebecca Snyder Howard and husband Dr. Rennie Howard of Williamsburg, Virginia; Stephana Snyder Dean and husband Albert "Bud" Dean of Bossier City, Louisiana; Dr. Robert Snyder, Jr. and wife Gayle Langley Snyder of Helena, Alabama; Dean Tad Howard of Georgetown University, wife Susan and son Grady Howard of Washington D.C.; Scottie Howard Brown and husband David Brown of Richmond, Virginia; Virginia "Ginny" Dean Nolen, husband Drew and children Melanie and Mary Elizabeth Nolen of Shreveport, Louisiana; Robbie Dean of Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana; Dr. Steven Snyder, wife Janet and children Will and Evelyn Snyder of Mobile, Alabama; Dr. Hunter Snyder, wife Jennifer and daughter Jillian Snyder of Madison, Alabama; and Molly Snyder of Helena, Alabama.  She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 24, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. The funeral service will be held at the Presbyterian Church of Ruston on Friday, March 25 at 2:00 PM with Reverend Edith Hill officiating. Graveside services at Pines Memorial Gardens will be held following the service under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home.  Serving as pallbearers will be Tad Howard, Steven Snyder, Hunter Snyder, Robbie Dean, Drew Nolen, David Brown, and Wiley Hilburn.  Honorary pallbearers will be Clyde Thompson and Francis Thompson. The family would like to give special thanks to the Russ House of Ruston, Dr. Edward J. Mariano, and the loving care of those sitters that were with her in her final weeks.
