Funeral services for Mr. J.R. (Jack) Farmer, age 90 of Choudrant, will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Rock Corner Baptist Church in Dubach. Rev. Ben Jordan will officiate the services.  Burial will follow in Mineral Springs Cemetery in Dubach under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston. Jack Farmer was born September 6, 1920 in Tupelo, Oklahoma to Barney Farmer and Eula Davenport Farmer. He went home to be with his Lord on March 20, 2011 after a lengthy illness. Jack was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend to many in his life.  In his professional life he was a feed salesman in the states of Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi.  After retirement in 1971 he and his wife owned and operated a cattle and chicken farm until he was no longer able.  Jack was a member of Rock Corner Baptist Church.  He was a member of Ruston Lodge #106 F&AM and of The El Karubah Shrine in Shreveport and Barack Shrine in Monroe. Jack was also a volunteer firefighter of the Cartwright Fire Station. Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years:  Pam Brewster Farmer; his son: Michael Mayzel and wife Jimmie of Ruston, his daughter: Sharon (Sissy) Mayzel Bennett of Choudrant; his stepson:  Steve Richardson and wife Monica of Ruston; his grandchildren: Ashley and husband Randall Lilley, Cale Mayzel, Brody Mayzel, Preston Sparks and Tyler Stevenson; his brother-in-law Gene Brewster and wife Gloria; his sisters-in-law:  Margaret Brewster and Thelma Brewster; his nephews:  Dale Hays and wife Cathy and Jeff Brewster and wife Stacie;  his nieces:  Melinda and husband Doug Boyd, Loren and husband Walter Garner; Stacia and husband David Emerson and Shannon and husband Joe Brown as well as many cousins, great nieces, great nephews and a host of church, community and lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughters: Gayle Farmer and April Michelle Farmer; his sister: Girstel (Doodle) Hays; and his brothers-in-law:  Hampton Hays, Kenneth Brewster and Ragan Brewster. Pallbearers will be:  Layne McNabb, Nathan McNabb, Tom Batterton, Dwayne (Diddle) Andrews, Steve Richardson and Walter Garner. Honorary pallbearer will be Wayne McNabb. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at Rock Corner Baptist Church Family Life Center in Dubach.
