I’m sure there are many of you who would beg to differ, but, to me, 5:30 a.m. is early.

I never thought I’d see the day where I would willingly roll out of bed at such an unseemly hour.

Many of you may know George, who worked this beat before me. When he told me to meet him at 7 a.m. for my second day of training, I’m sure my eyes popped.

I could almost hear the wheels turning in my head as I tried to calculate how many drops of sweet slumber I could steal and still make it to Ruston from Farmerville on time.

The answer was far too few for my liking.
