Lincoln Parish residents will have an opportunity to learn more about the local redistricting process during a public hearing at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Lincoln Parish Library Events Center.

The 2010 Census shows Lincoln Parish’s population has grown from 42,509 residents in 2000 to 46,735 residents.

Within the parish, there are 12 districts, each of which has both a school board and police jury representative. All 12 districts must be similar in size. The ideal population for a school board/jury district is 3,895 residents, which is 46,735 divided by 12. The 2010 Census shows eight of the parish’s districts are malapportioned, meaning they have a population that is more than five percent greater than 46,735.
