James Monroe Sims, 92, of Arcadia, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 25, 2012. Born February 1, 1920, in Arcadia, Bienville Parish, Louisiana, James was the third son of Reuben Douglas (R. D.) Sims, Sr. and Effie May Lawley Sims. He was named for his grandfather, James Monroe Sims, the founder of Simsboro.

Funeral services for Aaron Pesnell, age 19, of Choudrant, LA will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, March 1, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Choudrant. Officiating the service will be Rev. David Harrell, and Rev. Chris Witt. Interment will follow at Choudrant Memorial Cemetery in Choudrant.
Aaron was born June 17, 1992 and passed away February 26, 2012

A memorial service for Mr. Howard Otis Ulmer, Jr., age 80 of Ruston, will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at the Antioch United Methodist Church near Ruston. Rev. Joe Koskie will officiate the service. The service is under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.

Memorial services for Ann Olivia Hartwick, 63, of Ruston will be 11:00AM Tuesday February 28, 2012 at Culbertson Baptist Church with Bro. “Tuck” Roberts & Steven Wade officiating.
Ann Olivia Hartwick went to her heavenly home on Saturday February 25, 2012. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Ruston and a registered nurse. She was a graduate of Northwestern State College. She began her nursing career in the VA hospitals in Shreveport, Atlanta and Dallas.
She is preceded in death by her father Robert O. Hartwick.
Survivors include her mother Edwina Hartwick of Darbonne

John Earl Jones, age 96, died early Monday morning at his home in Rock Hill, SC. Born in Arcadia, LA to Bertha Hays Jones and John Earl Jones in 1915, Mr. Jones was a long-time resident of Charlotte who moved to Rock Hill in 2010 to be closer to family. Mr. Jones is survived by his two sons, John E. Jones, Jr. (Gloria) of Rock Hill and William Pike Jones (Susan) of Charlotte.

A celebration of the life of Ben Simmers will be from 2-5 p.m., Saturday, February 25, 2012, at his residence for family and friends.
Ben was born April 28, 1938 in Whitley County, IN. He entered into rest Friday, February 10, 2012, in Shreveport, LA. Ben was retired from Ball-Foster Glass Manufacturing Company after many years of faithful service. He was a veteran of the Marine Corp where he proudly served his country. Ben was a graduate of Columbia City High School, Columbia City, IN.

Omelia Street Mitchell was born in Simsboro, Louisiana, November 3rd 1940, to the late John D. and Armelia Gipson Street and died on February 15, 2012. She was the fifth of their six children. Omelia accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and was baptized at an early age and united with the Spring Hill Baptist Church.

Goldie Mae Webb Taylor, 91, Ruston, formerly of Minden, LA, went home to be with her heavenly Father during the early morning hours Friday, February 17, 2012.
Family visitation will be Monday, February 20 at 9 a.m. followed by general visitation at 9:30 a.m. and funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel under the direction of Kilpatrick Rose-Neath Funeral Home. Officiating the services will be Pastors Kurt Auger and Keith Taylor. Burial will follow in the Minden Cemetery.

Services were held for Johnny Jones, 50, at 3:00 p.m., on Monday, February 13, 2012, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Arcadia. Burial followed at Arcadia Cemetery. Rev. Jammie Byrd officiated.
Johnny Jones was born December 31, 1931, to Billy Fred Jones and Betty Crowell Jones. He entered into rest on February 11, 2012, in Homer, LA. He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church of Arcadia. He worked as a mechanic for the State, at the Highway Barn in Arcadia.
