Ora G. “Jackie” Lyles

Funeral services for Mrs. Ora G. “Jackie” Lyles, age 89, of Ruston will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, May 1, 2011 at Temple Baptist Church in Ruston. Officiating the service will be Dr. Rick Byargeon and Rev. Dale Oden. Interment will follow at Cook Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. Mrs. Lyles was born February 27, 1922 and passed away April 27, 2011. She was a long time member of Temple Baptist Church and worked as a salesperson at Marbury Drug for many years. Mrs.

Garland P. Colvin

Funeral Services for Garland P. Colvin, 76, of Shreveport, LA will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Summer Grove Baptist Church with Dr. Murry Hodge officiating. Interment to follow in Colvin Memorial Cemetery in Unionville, LA at 3:30 p.m. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday April 29, 2011 at Rose Neath Southside, Shreveport LA. Mr. Colvin was born March 16, 1935 in Dubach, Louisiana and passed away on April 27, 2011 at his home. He served in the United States Marines from 1953-1957. He served 34 years with the USDA Soil & Water Conservation Service. Mr.

Dr. Edmund Nelson “Buzzy” Roots Jr.

Dr. Edmund Nelson “Buzzy” Roots Jr. was born in Galveston, TX, in 1927, but grew up in the Rio Grande Valley. Following in his father’s footsteps, he went to Texas A&M to become a Texas Aggie to the core. “Gig’em!” After graduating A&M, he served in the U.S. Army Signal Corp stationed in Germany. He returned to Texas A&M to teach and earn his MS in Electrical Engineering. He taught for three years at Mississippi State University, while earning his PhD in Electrical Engineering. In 1967, he moved his family to Ruston, LA, to teach at Louisiana Tech University for 33 years.

Adam Mark Wright

Funeral services for Adam Mark Wright, 25, of Farmerville will be 2:00PM Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Crestview Baptist Church in Farmerville with Bro. Wayne Whiteside officiating.  Burial will be at Crestview Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home. Adam passed away April 26, 2011.  He worked in the heating and air industry. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Delmon & Nancy Wright and James Burks.

Max Roan Westbrook

Graveside services for Mr. Max Roan Westbrook, age 89 of Ruston will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, April 27, 2011 in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Ruston with Dr. Wilton Wall officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM service time Wednesday at Owens Memorial Chapel of Ruston. Mr. Westbrook died Monday, April 25, 2011 at Northern Louisiana Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Max was born in Vivian, LA on March 18, 1922 to Annie Mearl and Robert Ira Westbrook. After graduating from Blanchard High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps where he served during WWII.

Raymond Anderson

Funeral Services for Raymond Anderson, 93, of Farmerville, LA., will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at the Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Farmerville. Officiating will be Rev. David Martin and Rev. Truman Stagg.  Interment will follow in Sardis Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Farmerville. Mr. Anderson was born on October 4, 1917 in the Evergreen Community. He was the oldest of four children born to Leva and Mary Cole Anderson. He passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2011.

Mattie Thomas Dye

Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Thomas Dye, age 82 of Dubach, will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, April 25, 2011 at the First Assembly of God Church in Ruston.  Rev. Ricky Bonnette will officiate the service.  Burial will follow in St. Rest Cemetery in Dubach under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston. Mrs. Dye was born September 17, 1928 in Dubach to Eugene Hedgepeth and Agnes Baxter Hedgepeth.  She died at her home on April 19, 2011.  She was a nurse’s aide at Lincoln General Hospital for many years.

Jack F. Sikes

Jack F. Sikes of Ruston, Louisiana, died Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Northern Louisiana Medical Center after a lengthy illness.  He was 84. Mr. Sikes was born in Meridian, Mississippi on October 10, 1926, where he grew up, graduated high school, and signed up to fight in WWII with the Navy.   He served two years in the Pacific until the war ended, then returned home to bury his father, take over his Dad's lumber business with his brother Earl, and marry his sweetheart, Jean Ellen Moreland.

Blanche Eleanor Fetterolf Alexander

A graveside service for Mrs. Blanche Eleanor Fetterolf Alexander, age 86, of Russellville, Arkansas, will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Arlington Cemetery in Homer. Dr. Wilton Wall will officiate the service. Services are under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston. Mrs. Alexander was born December 16, 1924 in Homer to Orrin Fetterolf and Laddie L. Lamon Fetterolf. She died April 14, 2011 at Russellville Nursing Center. She was married on April 5, 1946 to James H. Alexander to whom she spent sixty five wonderful years with.

Gwendolyn Veleta Duplantier

Memorial services for Gwendolyn Veleta Duplantier, 72, will be held Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Grambling, LA. Reverend Anthony C. Slack will officiate the services. “Ms. D”, as she was fondly called by all, was born on May 19, 1938 in Atlanta, GA. She died April 10, 2011 at Christus St. Catherine Hospital in Katy, TX. She was blessed with a wonderful mixture of gifts from God. She used her gifts to touch so many lives through a ministry of music and mentoring. Her sense of humor was priceless and her dedication and loyalty were unsurpassed.
