Funeral services for Mrs. Judith Ann Smith, age 69 of Ruston, will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 4, 2010 at First Pentecostal Church of Ruston with Sister Earlene Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Ruston under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.

Mrs. Smith was born December 9, 1940 in Little Rock Arkansas to Emil Fritts and Jewel Fritts. She died September 1, 2010 in Ruston. She was a member of First Pentecostal Church of Ruston.

In her spare time, Mrs. Smith enjoyed reading most of all as well as playing handheld games and find-a-word puzzles.

Irene Muller, 92, of Ruston, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston.

Dorothy M. Hicks, 82, of Simsboro, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010 in Ruston.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.

Douglas Neil Worley

Memorial Services for Douglas N. Worley, 68, will be held at Clay United Methodist Church in Clay, La., on Saturday, August 21, 2010, at 4:00 p.m.

A private interment will be held in White Pass, Wash., at a later date.

Doug was born March 26, 1942, in Yakima, Washington to James “Jim” & Dorothy Blair Worley. After a brief illness, he passed away peacefully on August 16, 2010, at Health South Hospital in Midland, Texas.

Bobbie ‘Buddy’ Campbell

Funeral services for Bobbie “Buddy” Campbell, 76 of Ruston will be held Friday, August 20, 2010 in the chapel of Owens Memorial Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Brad Jones with burial following in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Choudrant. 

Mr. Campbell was born March 21, 1934 in Choudrant and died August 18, 2010 in Ruston. He had been a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and a U.S. Navy veteran. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Eugenia Campbell, three brothers and two sisters.

Mr. Campbell is survived by his wife Marjorie Campbell of Ruston; stepchildren, Terry and husband Robert Bailey of Hot Springs, Ark., Kerry and husband Tim Parnell of Simsboro and Drew Nolan and wife Honda of Simsboro; Ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Family members will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be Thursday, August 19, 2010 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Bobbie Campbell, 76, of Lincoln Parish, died Wednesday in Ruston. Funeral arrangements are incomplete under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel.

Freddy Wayne Stewart

Mr. Freddy Wayne Stewart, age 70 of Jonesboro, died Saturday, August 14, 2010 at his residence following a lengthy illness. Mr. Stewart was a retired contractor. Visitation was held 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM Sunday, August 15, 2010 at Southern Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at Maplehill Cemetery in Huntsville, AL.

Mary Alice Beasley Langford

Mary Alice Beasley “Bea” Langford, a long-time resident of Ruston, died August 13, 2010 in Lake Charles. She was born Feb. 14, 1913, in Meridian, Mississippi to Robert Clarence Beasley and Mary Rixie Wilson Beasley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Eula Elizabeth Beasley and Helen Clarice Beasley Weekly and her brothers Robert Clarence Beasley, Jr. and James Wilson Beasley, her husband of 67 years Carl Lee Langford, M.D., her daughter Mary Ann Langford, her grandson Christopher Carl Heit and her son-in-law Raymond Anthony Heit.

She is survived by her daughter Helen Carlee Langford Heit of Houston, her son Charles Robert Langford and wife Beverly of Lake Charles, three grandchildren, Amy Cecelia Heit Linsley and husband David of Seattle, Nathaniel Robert Langford and wife Elizabeth of Lake Charles and Jonathan Carl Langford of Baton Rouge and three great-grandchildren Perryanne Claire Langford, Chiara Isabella Linsley and Declan Nathaniel Langford.

Winnie Elizabeth Allen Hatcher

Winnie Elizabeth Allen Hatcher of Ruston, LA went to be with her Lord, Saturday, August 14, 2010 after a lengthy battle with Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Winnie was born on June 10, 1937 near Springhill, LA to Luther “Pete” Allen and Bessie Berry Allen. Winnie, the wife of James Wayne Hatcher, Sr. lived in Ruston for 35 years.

Johnnie Chandler

Funeral services will be held for Johnnie Chandler, 97, at Bienville Baptist Church, on Saturday, August 14, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. Jerry Key will officiate. 

The interment will follow at the Liberty Hill cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Kilpatrick’s Rose Neath Funeral Home in Arcadia, Louisiana on Friday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Mrs. Chandler was born May 12, 1913, in Bienville, LA, to Robert and Annie Jones Grigg. 

She entered into rest on August 11, 2010, in Ruston, LA. Mrs. Chandler was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bienville. Homer and Johnnie Chandler were the owner/operators of Chandler’s Grocery and Market in Bienville for over 30 years.
