Ira John “Johnny” Hall

Ira John “Johnny” Hall died peacefully Labor Day, September 2, 2013, Johnny was born in Delhi, Louisiana on October 23, 1932; Son of Charles and Lola Hall. He was born and raised in the Hall Hotel, a Delhi landmark for 50 years. He was a 1951 graduate of Delhi High School, where he played football. He was involved in Boy Scouts from a young age, earning his Eagle Scout rank in 1948 and his 80th Merit badge (honorary) in 2010. He graduated from Louisiana Tech with a B. A. in Geography with a minor in History and a B. S. in Business with an emphasis on Sales, Management and Marketing.

Beth Durrett Lowery beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away at on Thursday, August 29, 2013 following a long battle with Alzheimer disease. As requested, her body was donated to LSU Health Shreveport for the advancement of medical student education. Her remains will eventually be buried at the Oak Grove Cemetery near Beth's birthplace and family home in Arcadia, Louisiana. Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, September 6 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Van Hook home, 2836 Myrtle Street in Arcadia. Mrs.

Willie Frank “Moe” Lang

Funeral services for Willie Frank “Moe” Lang, 72 will be Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Bistineau Baptist Church in Heflin with Rev. Mike Welch officiating and music by Roy Powel. Interment will follow at 1:00PM Wednesday in Hamilton Cemetery, Dubach under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel of Ruston. Mr. Lang was born and raised in DeKalb, MS, and died Thursday, August 29, 2013 at his home from a brief illness. Mr. Lang is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Beatrice Lang; Sisters, Ruby Weaver and Mary Alice Stuart; Brothers, C.J. Lang, James Lang and Gilbert Ray Lang.

James D. Griffin

Funeral services for James D. Griffin, age 88, of Choudrant, LA will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston, LA. Interment will follow in Indian Village Cemetery near Calhoun under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Mr. Griffin was born May 30, 1925 and died August 29, 2013. He left his family with many wonderful memories and will be missed greatly. Mr. Griffin had a favorite nurse, Allie, which brought sunshine to his life. Allie is employed by Medical Service Home Health. He is survived by his wife Carolyn and a host of friends.

James Marvin McBride, “Mac”, 78, entered into his Father's arm's Friday, August 23, 2013. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Friday, August 30, 2013 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. The celebration of his life will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Temple Baptist Church in Ruston, with burial to follow at Pines Memorial Gardens. Mac is now healed by our Lord and is no longer a victim of cancer, no more suffering. Now, we pray that our Lord heal the broken hearts of those close to him as this world is but temporary home. David Elton “Bunny” Brazzel

David Elton “Bunny” Brazzel, 84, passed away Monday, August 26, 2013 in Ruston, Louisiana from complications of Alzheimer's disease. He was born on March 7, 1929 in Dubach, Louisiana to Tom and Ethel Brazzel. David grew up in the community of Corinth, near Dubach, Louisiana. After graduating from Dubach High School, he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Japan during the Korean War. Following his military service, he began his career in the oilfield, ultimately working as a self-employed Drilling Consultant all over the United States, Central America and the Dominican Republic.

Oleva M Helsley

Oleva M Helsley, 87, of Princeton, Indiana passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2013 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh. She was born January 31, 1926.  She is survived by her daughter, Kay (Tom) Church of Ruston, LA; 2 sons, Gary (Betty) Helsley of Princeton and Stanley (Pam) Helsley of Petersburg; 2 granddaughters, Tonya (Scott) Duggan of Ruston, LA and Stephanie (Brad) West of Princeton; step grandson, Scott Lee of Elkhart, IN; 3 great grandchildren, Storm Ray and Noah Braden West and Kelsey Renea Duggan; and several nieces and nephews.

R. L. “Lynn” May passed away on August 22, 2013 from a work related accident.  Services will be held on August 25, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Owens Funeral Home, Ruston, LA.  Visitation will be at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. 
Lynn was born August 11, 1949, reared in Gonzales, Louisiana and a resident of Simsboro, Louisiana for the last 40 years.  In 1979, Lynn and his wife Alyce formed R.L. May Construction.

Carl L. Holstead

Funeral services for Carl L. Holstead, age 71, of Choudrant will be held 2:00 PM Sunday August 25, 2013 at Douglas United Methodist Church. Officiating the service will be Rev. Jeremy Jones and Rev. Rolly Walker. Interment will follow at Douglas Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. Mr. Holstead was born March 28, 1942 and passed away August 22, 2013. Mr. Holstead was a lifelong member and very active at Douglas United Methodist Church where he served as church treasurer and on many boards and committees.
