Marjorie Malone DeSordi died January 17, 2014, at Alpine Gamble Guest Care where she had been a resident for the past four years. She was born January 28, 1919, in Arizona, LA to Perry and Vera Robinson Malone, and was a life long resident of that community. She was a life member of the Arizona Methodist Church, a Sunday School teacher, and an Administrative Board member for many years. Marjorie attended elementary school at the Nicholson Academy in Arizona and Lisbon High School in Lisbon, LA where she graduated as Salutatorian of her senior class in 1936.

Services for retired Louisiana Tech University Civil Engineering professor, Calvin A. Lemke, age 92, will be held at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at the Temple Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Reggie Bridges and Rev. Dale Oden officiating. Local arrangements are under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston, LA. Burial will be later in the week at the Rosemound Cemetery in Waco, TX. Calvin was born in Waco, Texas, on August 25, 1921 and went to be with our Lord on January 18, 2014 in Ruston.

Wiley Wilson Hilburn Jr. of Choudrant, a journalist and professor, died Jan. 16 in Ruston after a brief illness. Hilburn was born Feb. 20, 1938 in Ruston. He was 75.
Visitation is scheduled from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. The funeral is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Presbyterian Church of Ruston with the Rev. Edith Hill officiating.

Funeral services will be held for former U.S. Marshal and Claiborne Parish Sheriff J.R. Oakes, 84, at the First Baptist Church in Homer on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Brian Thurman, officiating. Interment will follow at the Homer Arlington Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 405 E. 5th St, Homer on Friday from 5-7 p.m.

Myrna Guidry Burley, age 73, of Claiborne Parish, LA will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. Officiating the service will be Minister Wayne Payne. A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, January 13, 2014 at Greenlawn Cemetery in Natchez, MS under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston, LA.

Robert (Bob) George Peper, 62, passed away peacefully at his beloved farm and home in Choudrant, Louisiana on Monday, January 6, 2014. He was born July 16, 1951 in Berlington, Wisconsin to George and Beverly (Haan) Peper. Bob was preceded in death by his wife Kathy (Ziaya) whom he married in January, 1971 in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Bob was an avid adventurer. He and Kathy were fortunate enough to have opportunity to live in such beautiful states as Wisconsin, Alaska, Texas, and Louisiana. In Louisiana, Bob, owned and operated the dairy equipment company, Beaver Creek Enterprises.

Funeral services for John J. “Mickey” McHale, age 76, of Ruston will be held Friday, January 10, 2014 at 2:00 PM at The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Ruston. Officiating the service will be The Reverend Bill Easterling. Interment will follow at Pines Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. Mr. McHale was born July 29, 1937 and passed away January 6, 2014. Mickey loved his God and his church. He was an active member of The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Ruston. He also loved his family and adored his wife.

A memorial service for Mr. Max Lewis Cooper, age 68 of Dubach, will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Owens Memorial Chapel in Ruston. Officiating the service will be Rev. Henry Watts. Services are under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston. Mr. Cooper was born September 7, 1946 in Homer to E. M. Cooper and Audrey Jordan Cooper.
