Still need convincing that Case Keenum is a legitimate Heisman Trophy candidate and Houston is the most dangerous offense in the country?
Any doubts should have been removed Saturday night after the Cougars and their record-wrecking quarterback overcame a 27-point deficit to edge Louisiana Tech University 35-34 in front of 24,628 fans at Joe Aillet Stadium.

Grambling loses to ASU

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Growing pains continued for Grambling State University’s young offense Saturday as the Tigers fell 31-17 to Alabama State University in Cramton Bowl.
GSU fell to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in Southwestern Athletic Conference action while ASU is now 2-1 and 2-0 in league play.
While Grambling struggled offensively throughout much of the contest, things didn’t go bad until the fourth quarter. In fact, after trailing 10-0 in the first half, Grambling knotted things up at 10-10 at the 9:18 mark of the third quarter as freshman quarterback D.J. Williams connected with Mario Lewis on a 31-yard scoring strike.

Nick Isham has big career ahead at Tech

A Sunday’s morning worth of notes, observations and our two cents worth on the sports world:
• Be patient with Nick Isham.
I realize Saturay night’s 35-34 loss to Houston was tough to swallow, but he’s going to be just fine when it’s all said and done as the starting quarterback at Louisiana Tech University.
The kid has the moxie that can transform into consistent stardom over the remaining years of his stay in Ruston.

With the anniversary of Sept. 11 having just passed, many people have been thinking about the military.
Residents will have a chance this week to learn more about an issue that affects as many has 60 percent of troops who see combat.
John Pope, assistant professor in counseling at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, will discuss Post Traumatic Stress Disorder at the monthly meeting of the local National Alliance on Mental Illness chapter set for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Community Room of the Community Trust Bank Financial Center, located at 1511 N. Trenton St.
