Question: I am a high school student with really good grades. I know I’m going to go to college, I just don’t know where yet. Is it worth it to go to an expensive private school? I’m pretty sure my parents couldn’t pay for it, so I will have to get student loans.

Village Market/Arby’s holds ribbon cutting

Ribbon cutting ceremonies were held June 11 for Arby’s/Village Market, located at the corner of East Kentucky Avenue and Louisiana Highway 33. The ceremony was coordinated by the Ruston-Lincoln Chamber of Commerce.

Miller wins FNB Jackie Woodard Whitlock Scholarship

Michael Wayne Miller Jr., a graduate of Simsboro High School, was named the winner of First National Bank’s 2011 Jackie Woodard Whitlock Scholarship. Each year, graduating seniors from Lincoln Parish schools apply for the $1,500 scholarship. The selection of the recipient was made by a committee of retired Lincoln Parish educators.

I have to be a little crazy having spent this week running around the country trying to keep up with people half and one third my age. Usually I’m a little sensitive when people say things to me about some of the shenanigans I get into trying to keep up with the young folks. At this moment, however, I’m inclined to agree.
