Ruston residents might have noticed more drivers getting pulled over inside the city limits over the last couple of weeks.
The Ruston Police Department has reportedly launched an initiative targeted at cutting down on the number of drivers who run red lights at traffic stops.
RPD Public Information Officer Lt. Tim Parker said the increased emphasis on traffic light violations stems from complaints the RPD and Mayor’s Office have received.

Rollover wreck on I-20

Hotard third in bow competition

Lacey Hotard of Choudrant recently competed in the third annual “Shoot for our Troops” bow competition sponsored by the Straight Arrow Foundation that was held at the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Department firing range in West Monroe. Hotard won third place in the “Cubs” division with a score of 188. She is the daughter of A.J. and Marian Hotard of Choudrant.

Sweet Adelines chorus to offer Summer Singers program

If you love to sing, instead of singing for your supper, why not sing for the summer?
Piney Hills Harmony Chorus of Sweet Adelines is, for the first time, offering a Summer Singers program as an invitation to area women to join the chorus for three rehearsals and to share the love of singing, harmonizing and performing.
Women ages 12 and up may attend on June 2, 9 and 16 from 6-8 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the Presbyterian Church of Ruston, 212 N. Bonner.
