Denny to receive Russ Award

Benny Denny, president and CEO of the Bank of Ruston, is the recipient of the 2010 Robert E. Russ Award for community service.
Denny will receive the award during the Chamber’s annual Gala set for 6 p.m. Feb. 1 at the Ruston Civic Center.
Other awards to be given during the gala include the Ruston Lincoln Convention & Visitors Bureau Hospitality Award, Ruston Rotary Club’s Bill Best Humanitarian Award, the Lincoln Parish School System’s Distinguished Partner in Education awards and the Ruston Jaycees Outstanding Young People awards.
Louisiana Secretary of Natural Resources Scott Angelle will be the gala speaker.
Sponsor for this year’ s gala is Community Trust Bank. Co-sponsors are Centric Federal Credit Union and Vantage Health Plan, Inc.
The Russ award, given by the Ruston-Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, is the community’s highest honor for outstanding contributions to local business and civic development.
“We are very proud of Benny’s work on behalf of Ruston and Lincoln Parish,” Chamber President Scott Terry said. “He’s not only helped open the way for economic development, but also has been active in a number of community organizations that have contributed to the cultural betterment of our area.”
The Russ Award, named after Ruston founder Robert E. Russ, recognizes those who have contributed to the civic, business or cultural advancement or development of the region in an outstanding manner.
