Friday morning millions of Americans will wake up much earlier than usual, even though many of them will have the day off and could sleep late.
But that would mean missing Black Friday.

Potter still offers magical escape

The familiar strain of music accompanying the pan of a cloudy sky combined to give me a warm, fuzzy feeling on Friday night. The latest and penultimate installment of the films featuring the world’s favorite boy wizard hit the screens last week, and theaters filled with fans young and old. Even the theater here in Ruston had only the undesirable seats left open 20 minutes before show time.

Livas keeps opponents loose

How does one defend against Tech’s elusive kick returner/receiver?

Phillip Livas just grinned when asked the question earlier this week.
“Would you like to be a defensive back in a game sometimes?”
His answer?
“Yeah, that would be kind of fun. I’d like to try it just once.”
Maybe it might be some fun for the Louisiana Tech University senior who has seemingly touched the football and made big things happen in a variety of ways, but not so for the poor guys who have to defend him.
And especially the DBs who might only get a chance to see the back of Livas’ jersey as he sprints down the field for another touchdown.

While there’s a Western Athletic Conference game at San Jose State University on Saturday, the Bulldogs will also be using part of this Thanksgiving week giving back to the community.

With holiday dinners to plan and the perfect present to find added to the daily grind, many people are pushed to find gifts online.
And then there are those who may be tempted to find ways to pick up a little extra cash while they’re at it. While browsing online, residents run the risk of encountering the many scammers and swindlers who also access the Internet.
Lt. Erica Hanna, an investigator with the Ruston Police Department, said one of the most common online scams encourages potential victims to become secret shoppers online.

Police seek armed robbers

A clerk at the Delta Mini Mart on Cooktown Road was reportedly held up at gunpoint at 10:15 p.m. Sunday. Tim Parker, public information officer for the Ruston Police Department, said officers arrived on the scene after two suspects had fled.
