Bearcats capture Red River Classic

Ruston swimmers take first in both boys, girls divisions

For the second consecutive season, the Ruston Bearcat swimmers were crowned Red River Conference champions, rolling to a team title Saturday at the Lambright Sports and Wellness Center on the campus of Louisiana Tech University.
The Bearcat boys repeated taking the title and the Ruston girls improved from last year’s third-place finish to capture the girls division. The combined score of 617 points easily outdistanced Alexandria’s second-place 443 point total. Pineville finished third, followed by Natchitoches Central and West Monroe.

Plourde leads Tech at NCAA Regionals

WACO, Texas — Louisiana Tech junior Anthony Plourde led Louisiana Tech Friday morning as the Bulldogs competed at the NCAA South Central Regional cross country meet on the Baylor campus in Waco, Texas.
Plourde ran 33:01.8 in the 10,000-meter race to lead a group of four Bulldog runners that competed at the regional meet, placing 85th out of over 140 runners. The meet marked the first time this season Plourde has ran the top time of Tech’s runners.
Junior Taylor Ashton followed as he finished 90th, running 33:07.1.

Buckner named RPAR MVP

D’Marco Buckner was recently named MVP of the Ruston Park and Recreation Department’s 7-11 year old Youth Flag Football Championship Game played at Joe Aillet Stadium. Buckner quarterbacked the Green Bay Packers to a 20-19 overtime win over the Atlanta Falcons.

David Finley named AACD accredited fellow member

David Finley, of Monroe, has been named an Accredited Fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. To achieve this honor, Finley completed a rigorous examination process consisting of 50 clinical case submissions.
Finley is the 61st AACD Accredited Fellow in history. Fellowship is the highest level of achievement available to AACD members. Its purpose is to provide an additional level of achievement for members in accordance with the AACD’s mission of education and excellence.
