’Dogs face another California trip

“They’ve been the model of consistency in the WAC over the last decade,” said Tech head coach Derek Dooley about Fresno State. “Pat Hill (head coach) does a good job of coaching that team and they’re particularly tough to play at their place.
“Defensively, offensively and special teams, they’ve got some very good athletes. It’s certainly a huge challenge to play them and especially when you go out there.”
Tech will be returning to action after having taken last weekend off following that loss to the then No. 6 nationally ranked Golden Bears.

Give back to those who give themselves

Sometimes, we mourn the passing of law enforcement officers who took their jobs the extra step because it cost them their lives.
Such was the case Aug. 10 for two Bastrop police officers, detectives Chuck Wilson and Russell Smith, who were unaware of the danger that lurked behind the doors of the hotel they entered. A suspect wanted in a homicide in Texas took them from their families in a split second.

Does laziness lead to crime?

He could either leaf through the classified ads and search for jobs or he could steal from someone else’s property.
Maybe his wife will get tired of laying in bed all day and will decide to drink and drive or trespass inhabited dwellings.
The teenagers will decide school gets in the way of having fun, so they will use illegal substances and ride around streets with the music at the highest volume.

Local LA 4 program takes off

Ninety percent of the class meets the criteria to obtain free tuition.
The diverse classroom is made up of 13 girls and seven boys with a racial makeup of 11 Caucasians, seven Blacks and two Hispanics.
For many of these children, the LA 4 class is their first exposure to a structured classroom environment, and they are learning social skills along with numbers and letters.
