Sam has left the Tech ‘building’

“When Sam heard it, he pulled the truck over to the side and said, ‘we’ve got to pause for a moment of silence for Elvis’. I knew right then that Sam was going to fit in just fine here.”
And that he did over a 30-year period, one that will officially come to a close on July 1 with his retirement from the university’s athletic staff, a three-decade stay of friendship, loyalty and support that spanned everything from his contributions as an athletic trainer to assistant athletic director in charge of football operations and a
myriad of unofficial duties in between.

Tech alum shines bright

“This is the first degree of this type in the world. That alone is significant,” Kostelka said. “That shows Louisiana Tech is one of the leading universities in nanotechnology by offering this degree.”
Kostelka also said he expects a few representatives from the university to be present for the commendation.

It's just time to move on

Train wreck claims one life

Cockrell was also transported to Northern Louisiana Medical Center Emergency Room with numerous — but non-life threatening — injuries by Ruston Ambulance Service.
Hawkins said Cockrell told officers with the Ruston PD that she was traveling north on Maple street and did not see any warning signals or hear any train horn.
The engineer of the train, Torrish Pearson, advised officers he could see that the crossing lights were activated and that he sounded the “whistle stop” or “train horn” as required by state regulation and company policy.
