Jericho’s slam isn’t enough

In a game that ebbed and flowed from the get-go (there were five overall lead changes), it was clear that one run wasn’t going to be enough for a victory.
It wasn’t.
The War Hawks (29-25) loaded the bases in the eighth, then got a sharp two-out single into the outer reaches of right center field by designated hitter Ty Rollinson to score two runs and then added on another via an error from leftfielder Patrick Thomas to take a 12-9 victory in front of a crowd of 1,235 fans.

Preparation for work place essential

During the mock interview, one teacher demonstrated the interview “do nots” by answering her cell phone, asking if she could smoke and dressing inappropriately. As another teacher pointed out, some students don’ t realize it is not OK to wear casual attire such as jeans and flip-flops to a job interview. Jim Shepherd, owner of the Cleaners of Ruston, said clothing such as torn jeans and T-shirts is the No. 1 factor in an interviewee’s failure to nab a job at his facility.

Mothers work many jobs

Although I can’t recall if they were named, the occupations of manager and judge deserve spots on this list. As household manager, my mother determined who had permission to stay at a friend’s house, ensured homework duties were done and rooms were clean and gave suggestions to increase productivity in these tasks. In her role as a mediator or judge, my mother almost daily listened to grievances of my older brother, younger sister and me.

Parish posts ‘unheard of’ growth

Leading the way was an increase of more than $16 million (126 percent) in oil and gas extraction revenue. John Hood of Hood Petroleum said higher gas prices and technological advances have fueled the recent area growth in the petroleum industry.
“It’s been known for a long time that some of the deeper formations in this area had gas in them,” Hood said. “But 30 years ago the technology wasn’t there to get it out.
“Now, they can get it out, and the higher gas prices have made it profitable.”
Hood said the prospects for area gas and oil extraction remain strong.
