Tech faces War Hawks in Monroe

Whatever the outcome of games involving front running Fresno State, Nevada and Hawaii, this much is certain: Tech is locked in as the No. 3 seed for the tournament.
Until then, all head coach Wade Simoneaux and his team can do is take care of some business with the War Hawks and build some momentum for the conference tournament.

Help end domestic violence

It is important that we all recognize the warning signs of domestic violence so we may keep ourselves out of a negative situation, while at the same time noticing when other people may need help. Some potentially harmful behavior may include jealousy, controlling behaviors and verbal abuse. Isolation is also an important thing to look for, as most perpetrators seek to restrict contact between the victim and friends/family. Once that bond has been weakened, many victims feel as if they have nowhere to turn for help.

Wielding control like a weapon

A university newspaper recently conducted a poll of students on what they thought were the causes of the crime. Some of the responses were interesting. The majority of people interviewed listed alcohol or drugs as one of the causes, and I have to say, that surprised me.
Perhaps mood-altering substances could be called a contributing factor, but the cause of such behavior, I believe, has much deeper roots.

2020 paves way for Tech

In renovation news, Reneau said the old visual arts building by the College of Business currently has $6 million in the budget for renovation, and a new water distribution system is also in the works.
Reneau said he plans for a seven-acre lake to be built near his own home. He said the university is concerned about the Sparta Aquifer, and the lake will provide water for all of the service accounts on campus. The project will cost $14 million and will be under way in the upcoming year.
