Rebs, Broncos make Ruston visit

Boise State (5-1, 2-0), who went a perfect 13-0 and captured a Fiesta Bowl title in 2006, will be bringing their talented squad into Joe Aillet Stadium for a 6 p.m. league duel against Louisiana Tech University (2-4, 1-2).
West Monroe (6-0, 5-0.), who has maintained a top rating for the 5-A class in the weekly Louisiana Sports Writers Association poll, will tangle with Ruston High (4-3, 1-3) in a District 1-5A showdown at James Stadium on Friday beginning at 7 p.m.

Parents need a special touch

And it’s not that I’ve never been around the extremely young and needy before; this particular set of kids, or maybe this particular time of year, has made me think about the connection between parent and child.
My fiance’ has been vocalizing her desire on the subject of procreating: not now, maybe not ever. And I’m OK with that.
We’ve got our three cats, and if we are as good of parents as we want to be, they’ll keep us busy for another 10-15 years.
She’s got her growing container garden and the bell peppers that are getting ready to cut in the next few days.

Jury, municipalities receive funds

The LGAP program has about $10 million for distribution to municipalities and parishes around the state this budget year. Eligible expenditures would include fire protection, sewer, water, government building renovations, police protection, land acquisition, demolition, equipment, roads, drainage and engineering costs associated with construction, according to a state Web page devoted to applications and program information.
