Bearcats bow out against Barbe

The Bearcats (25-11) left 10 runners on base and fell to the Buccaneers 5-1 at the Barbe High diamond.

Let’s work together for a clean city

Ruston had no competition on the district level, but the city still had to score 80 points out of 100 to win. Scoring is based on ten divisions: the approach into the city limits, public and/or municipal buildings, parks and recreation areas and cemeteries, business establishments, residential areas, streets and neutral grounds, vacant lots, community involvement, before and after pictures showing progress and the overall impression of cleanliness.

Rocking for a real good cause

The four guys from the band Squint — Dane Adrian as lead singer, Matt Fredrickson on guitar, Christopher Oubre on bass and Tote on drums — are getting ready for this year’s Squintfest Thursday night at Rabb’s Steakhouse.
The cover charge is $10, but every bit of that money goes to the National Parkinson’s Foundation.

GSU helps hurricane-ravaged areas

The group, which ranged from freshmen to graduate students, spent four days in south Louisiana and constructed 12 storage sheds to accompany 12 homes to be given to area families.
“It was a great learning experience,” Bedford said.
“Some students had never used a hammer or saw before going there.”
Rhoda Gwan, a senior nursing major, said the hands-on work was valuable.
”This experience was way more than I expected it to be,” she said.
"Not only helped me to be a better leader, but it helped me to be a better person overall.”
