Redheaded nuns prefer whiskey

For some reason, my editor believed this description closing out my last column requires further explanation.
I thought the liquor-slurping spiritual figure seemed a pretty routine backstage event in the theater world, but what do I know?
Well, now that I think a little harder, she was not really a nun and I’m not even sure the bottle contained real alcohol.

Local artists paint proud image for area

These artists have been chosen as having done some of the finest work in the United States by well known artist and educator Henry Finkelstein.
The competition to be included in the exhibition included 142 adult artists who submitted 413 entries. From that group, 88 works from 74 artists were selected.
The local artists included in the honored group include Robert J. Berguson, Marie Bukowski, Dean Dablow, Peter Jones, Glenn Kennedy, Christy Pitre, Holly Pitre and Rachael Speights, all of Ruston, and Lacey Stinson of Dubach.

Heart and desire

“Do you feel as if your height might be a negative?” a representative from a league franchise might ask of the former Ruston High School and LSU star.
To which Williams, a Class 5A Louisiana Sports Writers Association Defensive Player of the Year as a senior with the Bearcats, might reply:
“No, because my heart and love for the game is much larger.”

LPSO seeks Williams info

“Twenty months after her disappearance under suspicious circumstances, Williams is still missing,” Wesley Harris, with the Sheriff’s Office, said. “The Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office is again asking for the public’s help in solving the case. We want people to come forward with any information because that might be the lead that breaks the case.”
Harris said the office searched the location of Williams’ disappearance as well as several other locations on foot and with search dogs.
