Dogs glad to be back home

It probably seems like decades.
For the past three games, there’s been road treks to San Jose, Calif., Denton, Texas and Honolulu, Hawaii.
“It’s just going to be great to be around our own fans and atmosphere,” sized up senior wide receiver Eric Newman. “That can make a difference a lot of times, being around people who are really supporting you and encouragment. For the last several games, we haven’t had that, with being on the road and all. That can get tiring.
“Now, for the next games, we’re at home and it’s a great feeling.”

JA projects on schedule

The following examples provide only a glimpse of the many projects which JA funds through fund-raisers such as the upcoming jambalaya and bake sale to be held tomorrow and the Jingle Bell Run to be held Dec. 9.
Any child who visits the emergency room at Lincoln General Hospital receives a huggy bear or coloring pages to comfort them. Preschoolers and elementary students across the parish enjoy puppet shows emphasizing healthy eating habits and character education every spring.

It takes a lot of real dedication

Only a university professor’s daughter — as I am very proud to be — knows full well the dedication it takes to have one’s work published or to present papers.
I remember very clearly the hours, the weeks, the months, even the years my father spent in preparation of articles for newspapers, in preparation of papers to be presented at conferences and in preparation of a manuscript which was highly acclaimed by reviewers but which never made publication. Even the utmost dedication will not see all of those efforts succeed every time.

Chamber endorses CVB, LPPJ efforts

Chamber President Scott Terry said a conference center is sorely needed in Lincoln Parish.
“As the representative of more than 400 business members in the community, we feel its important there is a center that can fulfill the needs of those members,” Terry said.
“We feel this meets those requirements.”
CVB Executive Director Kyle Edmiston agreed.

Library Board ignores Jury’s request

“We can hire an architect, get plans and specifications, and let bids to proceed with this,” Williams said.
A question was asked if the plan was to first conduct a study. Williams said no.
“This is to hire an architect and get firm numbers so we can proceed,” Williams. “We want to make it adequate to provide space for exhibits from places like the Smithsonian.”
